Biography

Dan-Dan Hammer-Zheng was born in 1981 in Guang-Dong Province China and started her first piano lesson at the age of nine.

Since 1994 she studied in The Middle School attached to Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing with Prof. Wu Yuan. After graduration with highest prize in 1999, she continued her study in Cologne Germany (Hochschule für Musik Köln) with one of the most famous concert pianist Prof. Pi-hsien Chen. And with Prof. James Tocco she finished her study for Concert-Performance Artist (Konzertexamen). She had also lessons with Bruno Leonardo Gelber, as well as V. Krainev, M. Beroff, D. Kraus, O. Yablonskaya and Hans Leygraf. She was stipendiary of Karin-Schütz and DAAD foundation.

At the „5th Munich Youth Piano Podium“ she won Public Prize, Schott-Prize for the best interpretation of contemporary music, Pennarz-prize and debut concert which recommened by competition founder Mr. S. Gourari. After her concert, the press mentioned many times about „her special Art of playing Beethoven“, „ classic and romantic melting in Brahms“, and „coddle by sound of Debussy“. She also won the 4th prize at International Brahms Music Competition in Austria and Special Prize by Perrenoud Foundation in Vienna.

She gave concerts in Beijing Concert Hall, Thuermer-Saal in Bochum Germany, Steinway-Haus and Bechstein-Zentrum in Cologne...at Klavier Festival Ruhr she played music Pieces of John Cage and Earle Brown. She performed with Symphony Orchestra Koblenz the Rachmaninoff 2nd Piano Concerto in The Electoral Palace as well as with Russian National Symphony Orchestra at Germany-Russia Culture Festival. As solist she played with Chamber Orchestra in Hochschule für Musik Lübeck for Indonesian contemporary music, made audio record with clarinetist Shelly Ezra for NDR Culture, performaned contemporary music on Piano and Cembalo with most important conductor Mr. Frank Ollu and IEMA Orchestra in Austria and Italy. She also played for Menuhin Live-Music-Now Foundation.

Dan-Dan Hammer-Zheng settled dpwn in Cologne Germany since 2009, often be invited to perform for serveral City Events in NRW.

In 2012 she was honored to give concert with her teacher Prof. Pi-hsien Chen in Kolumba Museum Cologne for composer Mr. Manos Tsangaris' work. Also she was invited to play in Golden Hall Vienna with chinese Orchestra. As Visiting Professor of Shen-Zhen Piano Academy in China she will give lectures and concerts there in 2013.
